Thank you to everyone who made our 2009 Spring Appeal a success!

Dozens of individuals helped us surpass our goal to raise a total of $11,000 in honor of Leap Learning Systems' 20th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone we have intensified our reach in the community to provide the highest quality language and literacy programs to those facing the greatest challenges.

Where does my donation to Leap go?

Leap Learning Systems strives to make its programming available to all schools and organizations that request it. As many of our partners are located in and serve low-income communities, their budgets often don’t have room to pay for Leap’s services in full. Your financial support will help make up the difference to ensure that Leap can continue to bring our programs where they are needed most.

More than half of Leap Learning Systems’ revenue comes from the generous support of local foundations, corporations, and individuals – people and organizations who realize that their investment will yield life-changing benefits for students touched by Leap’s programming.

A gift of any size truly makes a difference. For example:

  • $25 underwrites a Language for Scholars student manual
  • $50 underwrites an early childhood teacher’s manual
  • $100 supports one hour of in-classroom coaching
  • $500 provides eight weeks of Language Through Science to a preschool class
  • $1,000 puts a Lending Library in an early childhood classroom

Mildred Huff Lending Library

In November 2008, Leap Learning Systems re-dedicated its Lending Library in honor of Mildred B. Huff (1917 - 2008). Donations may be directed to The Mildred Huff Lending Library.

In her career as an educator, Mildred helped hundreds of children reach their full potential.  As one of the country’s first learning disabilities teachers and a single mom, Mildred found time to volunteer every summer to help children in migrant worker camps and in the inner city of Chicago learn how to read.  Among the many she inspired was her daughter Catherine Gottfred, who founded Leap Learning Systems in 1988 to continue helping children in underserved populations.
